The first question anyone asks is whether it will survive. It is a fair question, and the answer is better than most people expect.
Quilled paper is sealed after it is shaped. The seal is what turns a fragile thing into a wearable one — it resists humidity, holds colour, and stops the edges from softening with handling.
What it does not like is standing water, and it does not like being crushed at the bottom of a bag. Neither does most fine jewellery. Store it flat, keep it away from the shower, and a piece will outlast a great deal of what sits beside it.
There is a quieter argument too. A material that costs the earth very little, made slowly by one person, is a different proposition to something stamped out by the thousand. It ages honestly. Nothing about it pretends to be metal.
