None of this is complicated. It is mostly about where a piece sleeps.
Store it flat. Paper holds its shape well under its own weight and badly under everything else, so a shallow tray beats a jewellery box where things stack.
Keep it away from direct water. The seal handles humidity and the odd caught shower; it does not handle a basin.
Put it on last. Perfume and hairspray go on before the jewellery, not after — that is true of most materials and especially true here.
If it gets dusty, a dry soft brush is enough. Nothing wet, nothing abrasive.
